The Spirit Of KHS

Khanyisa High School

Our Ethos

Our goal is to teach school children in a caring environment where they can learn efficiently and reach their full potential. We inspire this in the overall ethos of the school and in the ethics we convey to the students. We have a unique ethos of empowering young people. We merge the best traditional values with new developments in education. We have high regard for ethical conduct, hard work and ambition. To us imparting such values to studentsoffers the fundamentals for a fruitful and contented adult life. Our learners must depart not only with good symbols in their certificates but also with an array of skills to help them in an endlesslyevolving world. We cherish responsibility, ingenuity and enterprise and incorporate these into our curriculum. While academic excellence is critical,we also stress the importance of co-curricular activities in the arts and sport. We have a strong sense of purpose. We inspire our pupils to be keen about learning and to beoptimistic about the future; to have a high sense of self-worth and to be assertive and productive in what they do; to have the aptitude and aspiration to advance their own development and participate in society. We have faith in equal opportunitiesand in recognising success.

Outreach

Built Khanyisa Children’s Home – a home for vulnerable children. The home currently accommodates thirty (30) children ranging from infancy to primary school goers. The first vehicle for the home was a donation from Mr. S. M Vattakunnel, a Toyota Camry. Now the Children’s Home has two vehicles and a Mercedes Benz Vito for transporting children to school

Together with the prefects of 2015 – 2016, the principal built a two bedroomed house for a very deserving old lady from KwaPayne location who was so unlucky in life to the extent that at an age of 70+ she was renting room with her daughter and four grandchildren. The prefects discovered the plight of this old lady when they were delivering food parcels to the deserving families around KwaPayne. The learners every year collect tons of non–perishable foods on top of the money they collect during the Lenten season for the poorest of the poor.
